Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are addressing headlines about their breakup.
One day after the Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones alum, the pair released a joint statement on their decision.
"After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," they shared in a message, posted to their respective Instagram accounts Sept. 6. "There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Joe and Sophie—who share daughters Willa, 3, and a 14-month-old baby girl listed in the court docs as "D.J."—tied the knot back in 2019, when a prenuptial agreement was put in place, according to Joe's court filing obtained by E! News.
Moving forward, the "Waffle House" singer wants to work on co-parenting with the actress.
"A parenting plan should be established," he said in the filing, "which addresses all parenting issues and contains a timesharing schedule providing for frequent and continuing contact with both parties."
Joe noted that the little girls have been "residing with their father" in Miami and more U.S. cities amid his tour, adding, "It is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility."
Furthermore, the "Sucker" artist said that both he and Sophie have "the ability to provide" for their kids and noted, "They should both be required to contribute to the support of the minor children."
E! News has reached out to their reps for comment on the divorce but hasn't heard back.
Joe, now 34, hit it off with Sophie, now 27, after sliding into her DMs about seven years ago.
"We were following each other on Instagram," she told Harper's Bazaar U.K. in 2019, "and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue."
But the meet cute was somewhat surprising, because she wasn't into the boy band growing up. "My friends and I were not Jonas Brothers fans," Sophie told Elle in 2020. "We hated them."
They had their first date at a bar in London with friends, and she was impressed by how down to earth he was. "I expected him to show up with security and everything," she said. "I thought, ‘He's gonna be such a dick.'"
But not so, as she recalled, "I remember the two of us spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we just found a space far in the corner and we just talked. We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn't contrived. It wasn't small talk—it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable. I went on tour with him."
They made their first public appearance at the MTV EMAs in November 2016, getting engaged less than one year later. In 2019, the couple got married in Las Vegas just two hours after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
